In charge of all major counterterrorism assignments, Operations Branches I and II are the main tactical field departments of the Counterterrorism Division. Branch I is in charge of international missions, and is responsible for dismantling groups like Hezbollah and Al Qaeda. Branch II focuses on terrorism within the U.S. and individuals and organisations partaking in these activities on U.S. soil. This second branch is also charged with some global responsibilities, including breaking down the financial networks of terrorist cells.
